CD review: 'In Light of Dark Days' - Brultalism

In the dark depths of the Northern Ireland region of the UK, The Crawling slither and cause a disturbance to all with their dark doom laden death metal, ever so often a touch of blackened magic appears and makes this a cool recorded effort. Although a short 3 track EP, there is plenty of material in terms of running time due to the song lengths, but why is this redeeming? Well, it simply encapsulates you as the listener into their world, their dark, almost atmospheric vision and you feel as one with some of the dulcet and extreme tones that emanate from this band. Some may recognise one member from Honey for Christ (Andy Clarke), a band I saw probably 9 or 10 years ago, the crossover of influences are here on this release, but I find this much more inclusive and engaging as a total package. There is a sincere level of quality from the songs, the recording and the emotion that the music portrays, this is definitely one of the best collection of songs I have heard for a while in this fie

CD review: 'In Light of Dark Days' - The Pain Fucktory

Stuart Rainey (Bass & Vocals), Andy Clarke (Guitar & Vocals) and Gary Beattie (Drums) comprise this trio of long serving metal-heads from Northern Ireland, collectively known since 2014 as The Crawling. ‘In Light of Dark Days’ is the second release from the band, following the ‘Choking on Concrete’ single released earlier in 2015, and is the culmination of a long journey for the bands individual members: ( Stuart hailed from 90's death metal band Severance, Andy fronted Honey For Christ for fourteen years, and Gary Beattie is still blasting for Zombified .) ‘The Right to Crawl’ oozes into existence with a ten tonne slab of a doom riff leading to the misanthropic hatred of the lyrics - gutturally growled (while never losing any of their comprehensibility) and often black as well as death metal influenced. The band are tight as fuck and the clear, powerful production translates the crushing slow Death/Doom sonic attack of The Crawling perfectly. ‘End of the Rope’ follows a

CD review: 'In Light of Dark Days' - Metal Temple

THE CRAWLING is a three-piece Slow Death/Doom Metal band, originating in the United Kingdom, but now located in Northern Ireland. Formed in 2014, this is the band’s debut EP release, which contains three tracks. The six-minute “The Right to Crawl” opens the EP. True to the genre description, it is a slow moving song with a doomy feeling. The vocal style varies in range from low to high, but much of it is in the upper register and I can’t help but hearing some Black Metal influence to this song as well, especially when the song picks up pace, presumably during the chorus section. The song has substantial weight as well, as if it was slowly crushing the breath out of you. “End of the Rope” is the second track. This four-minute song has a pensive and suspenseful opening, until the main distorted guitar kicks in the door with the force of a giant from the mountains beyond. Lumbering vocals and sunken guitar notes underscore the bottomless and hopeless feeling of the song, and this is clear

CD review: 'In Light of Dark Days' - Evil Rocks Hard

The next output of the Ulsterman me her selbstbenannten Slow Death. This Slow Death is characterized by strong melody lines, variable drumming, sometimes very progressive melody runs and tempo changes from repetitive guitar melodies and a guttural voice is perfectly understandable and thoroughly goes, a hammer voice. Since this is only an EP, it is advisable to listen to the whole album. The opening track, The Right to Crawl 'appears from the title as the raison d'ĂȘtre of the frontman, just awesome. Deep black, oppressive, sometimes Blast but equally evenly also this groovy part. So it goes in the other two songs. My tip: In short, one can only wonder if these guys bring even a whole album on the market. This EP is more than an appetizer, it arouses lofty thoughts and claims. Here and now, cool. Check it out. The fries fork in greeting !!! 10/10 Car Sten Evil Rocks Hard
